Franklin Resources Promotes Flanagan, Johnson to Co-CEOs

Oct. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Franklin Resources Inc., the largest

publicly traded U.S. mutual fund manager, promoted Martin

Flanagan and Gregory Johnson as co-chief executive officers to

replace Charles Johnson, who has been CEO since 1957.

Flanagan and Gregory Johnson, who have been co-presidents of

the fund firm since 1999, will take on their new roles in

January. Charles Johnson will remain chairman, the San Mateo,

California-based company said in a statement.

``These appointments are a natural evolution for Greg

Johnson and Marty Flanagan and a recognition of a co-presidency

that has worked extremely well,'' Charles Johnson said in the

statement.
